Local move from Summerland, BC to Chilliwack, BC

The worst ever experience

If you are thinking of hiring Points West for your Next Move “Don’t Do It” our move could NOT have been worse. We Had unqualified movers, one was his first day on the job, another had been fired from a previous moving company

We had a cupboard laying in pieces before it ever left our premises, half of furniture was not wrapped or covered, several pieces of furniture were broken, including a solid oak dining room chair and three of the four legs of a pedestal table, many items were scratched & chipped. Limited edition pictures were scratched because they were all placed in one box & not wrapped, there was water damage on some furniture because it was raining when they reached their destination in Chilliwack and only some items were covered. The furniture and boxes were placed in such a disorderly manner that it took us weeks to sort things out and we are still not finished??? And the list goes on

When I sent several e mails to Dennis I was sent back a short e mail saying I had 7 days to file for a claim, they had only

Professional movers that had been with them for at least four years and crews that had been with them for 4 - 15 years all lies and that we Hadn’t taken out private moving insurance so we would have to go threw our house insurance. Bottom line we paid

Nearly $10.000.00 For this NIGHTMARE

What would you do??? I will try to sent pictures but last time I tried to send this review I lost everything??

Perfect move!!

We moved with Points West Moving from Kelowna to Toronto. Our stuff had to go in to storage for six months unitl we found a place in Toronto. Dennis gave us a firm price for the full pack and move and storage which we really appreciated. Always hard to keep finances in check when making a big move. Everything was handled with care even our most fragile items. Thanks to all the crew.

No insurance for Damaged goods.

We Used Point west moving this fall to relocate for work, we signed a contract that showed $50,000 insurance on our goods. Everything went fairly smooth until the mover was bringing in the last box, which happened to be a TV. He slipped and fell holding the TV and landed on the corner of the box. The corner of the TV was very damaged, we opened the box to find the entire screen was shattered. The mover felt very bad and assured us if went sent a claim in within 7 days that we would be covered. He signed off at the bottom of the contract acknowledging he was at fault for the damaged TV, he took several pictures and sent them off to his boss so there was no surprises.
After 3 days we sent in our claim, knowing we only had 7 days to submit a claim or else we would not be covered. After a day Dennis the owner or manager sent back an email saying it had been sent off to their insurance company. The insurance company asked for more pictures showing the damage again and the serial number, which I sent in. After a week of no response I emailed him again. I was then told That there insurance did not cover this, we had to go through house insurance. I sent back several emails asking for reason for the no coverage, I received NO response. I contacted Dennis at Point west through email at first, it took him 3 weeks to reply with I QUOTE "WE DO NOT HAVE ANY INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR YOUR TV DAMAGE. ANY CLAIM FOR THE TV SHOULD BE MADE UNDER YOU HOME INSURANCE"
I proceeded to call Denis, it took another week to finally get a hold of him. He said I do not know why you keep calling we will not cover you tv, it in the fine print on the back page that the $50,000 insurance is only for transport and only cover a complete loss of our goods.
I felt I was completely covered on my good that were being moved, I felt that Dennis at Point west was very misleading.

I personally would not recommend this company to anyone after the experience I had, there are several other moving companies that would have looked after this claim for us if it had happened through them.

If you are looking for a moving company look for someone else!!

Kelowna to Calgary Move

My move from Kelowna to Calgary was the worst move I've ever made. My belongings were stored by Points West until we purchased in Calgary. Mice got into my boxes and chewed a lamp shade, a quilt etc. They also left droppings in the boxes.

The furniture wasn't wrapped correctly so there was damage to the top of dressers and to my teak dining table. When I tried to make a claim I didn't receive a response for weeks, then the answer was I should have made my claim earlier. Dennis also referred my to a clause in the contract indicating that lost pictures (Bateman, 2 Peter Snyder and Lynn Gregson) should be claimed on my house insurance. I was unable to claim on my house insurance because they required an appraisal and for the prints to be listed separately. Dennis gave me the impression my belongings would be kept separately in the warehouse. I don't feel that was the case.

The truck driver arrived at the wrong address when they delivered my belongings to Calgary even though I had emailed with our Calgary address.

I would not recommend this moving company. This was a very costly move considering all the damage to my belongings.

DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS (con artists and uncaring).

Tons of damage, quoted us 3150 and required a deposit of 600.
Showed up to move us with a semi(As they insisted)
1.5hrs into move they had to unload semi and move our belongings into 2 trucks.
They were suppose to have 8 guys only had 4.
They crew threw our belongs around packed heavy items on top of items marked fragile.
Broke the plug off my fridge, made a giant mess in my new basement, refused to discount for damaged items or wasted time due to miss managed trucks.
All boxes were labeled for location and locations were marked in house and many items in garage that belonged in house.

What a disaster.

Long-distance move from Vernon, BC to Edmonton, AB

Go somewhere else.

Lots of damage and no willingness to talk with the customer. Furniture legs were not wrapped properly and were broken off of specialty furniture, crystal vase was shattered, brand-new bookcase had a hole punched through the side, vintage nightstand was badly scratched, and BBQ legs bent badly to name a few things - the list goes on.

The damage is one thing but the neglect to even reply to our emails is another. Very poor customer service - once this company has your money, you are no longer of interest to them. In addition to the damage and being ignored about our concerns, the loading workers walked on freshly cleaned carpets with their boots on without protective coverings until another worker showed up later with the coverings, two of the younger workers were farting inside our house and laughing about it - totally inappropriate and disgusting behaviour, and the boxes were packed so tightly in the truck that many came out crushed and damaged.

Shop around first. If you are moving within or to the Okanagan in BC, contact Cidel Moving and Storing in Vernon. They moved us out to BC from Edmonton in the first place from and they were great. We would have contracted with them again but our sale came up so quickly and they were booked up when we needed them:(.

Poor Experience.

I took a chance on a smaller company, which turned out to be a mistake on my part. The company lost several items and broke some items. When I contacted them concerning this I was told it was beyond the reporting window and they made absolutely no attempt to find the items or help in any way. They do say you have only 1 week to report issues. This is a very short time period as it takes longer than that to fully unpack. Clearly they know this and likely use it as a means to nullify most claims. When packing up they broke a clay pot and just laughed it off. The mover told me he would find a wheel that was broken off a chair, but I never heard back from him. They did not use complete floor coverings as advertised. Some of the breakable items were poorly packed with little or no paper, and one vase did break.
The most unfortunate aspect was that they made no attempt at all to find my missing items, or contact me about them, or provide any degree of customer satisfaction.
I was hoping for some attempt at customer satisfaction, but got nothing. From my experience I would certainly never recommend Points West Moving in Kelowna. .

Complete disaster.

We used points West for our move from Osoyoos to Penticton, BC.
Our furniture had to go in storage for about 5 weeks. I can't begin to list the number of articles broken and scratched. As we unbox the list gets longer. The demolished the top on a $1000 coffee table and the driver told me "we allow 60 cents a pound and your top weighs around 100 pounds so expect to get $60.00.

Never ever use Points West out of Kelowna and penticton.

Move from Osoyoos to Vernon.

We used Points West to move from Osoyoos to Vernon. What a mistake. So many items scratched, dented, broken not to mention the fight that broke out amongst the workers on arriving at our new home. Nice way to enter a new neighbourhood. When we contacted them re the damages they didn't return calls and when they finally did it was " you didn't take our insurance" so basically too bad. We also had a broken TV, appliances with huge gouges, etc. Not to mention the big fight amongst the workers that almost necessitated the called of the RCMP. Please check out other movers before going with these movers.

Moving Damage.

I have a beautiful dining room table and chairs that we purchased a few years ago, and very special to me. We are a retired couple and so needless to say, the chairs for this set have hardly been sat in. When they unpacked the chairs, they were filty, their moving blankets must never be cleaned. One of the chairs is worn along the top as if something had been rubbing on it, the backs of that chair and a couple others were loose..so when they had packed it they must have had something packed on top. This was definately due to a lack of care on their part, and was the biggest part of my concern.

All of our leather furniture was dirty, as well as the dining chairs, their blankets really need to have some laundering done.

We moved into a brand new town house, and the movers hit the dry wall in a few spots and gouged out portions of the wall, not even have the courtesy of mention this to me. In the FINE print, wall damage is NOT COVERED..good one.

The other thing was a box of items had broken glasses. Since I had packed them myself, it is not covered. I wouldn't even mention this, as it is a small item but along with the dining room chairs, it needs to be mentioned. The box had a big dent in it where it was smashed in.

Another box was wet, with no explanation of how it got wet.

It took them two weeks to come back to me with any kind of an response. And obviously it did nothing to make me feel good about my experience with them.

Move on Labour Day Weekend Kelowna to Kamloops.

If I could give 6 stars out of 5 stars I would! These movers were great! Dennis visited our house and gave a firm quote on the price of the move, which we appreciated rather than an hourly rate. On the day of the move six cheerful and hardworking guys showed up exactly on time, professionally wrapped our furniture with pads and shrink wrap, and loaded the truck. Some of it was very heavy but they were extremely careful. Everything was secure. There were no issues. All mattresses were covered with new mattress bags. Our hardwood floors were well protected by mats. On move in day on the long weekend, we had similar excellent service. These guys are professional, calm, considerate and tireless! We had no scratched or damaged furniture. They didn't bump any walls in our new house. We didn't lose anything. Our beds were all set up for us and the bed frames were perfectly secured. It was amazing! I would strongly recommend this moving company. They are fantastic!

Do Not Hire This Company!

We hired Points West Moving on September 2018 to move from West Kelowna to Red Deer. The owner, Dennis Gregoire, assured me that it would be “one move one truck” as I specifically mentioned that I didn’t want multiple household in one truck. On the day of the moving, a big 53’ semi showed up. We were living in a condo building and the entrance was pretty narrow so was the parking lot. James, the owner’s son truck driver, managed to back up to the parking lot but ran over the right hand side little concrete wall without damaging it. This truck was so big that the front cabin had to be unhooked and parked on the road while loading the trailer.
When leaving the condo building, James ran over the left hand side concrete wall this time and broke it in many pieces. I was a witness to this incident and when I confronted him about it he told me that the company has insurance and not to worry about it.
2 weeks later the President of the condo building informed me that West Point Moving was denying any wrong doing and didn’t want to pay for the damages. However Dennis Gregoire admitted that his son ran over the curb but didn’t break anything and that in fact, this curb was broken to begin with and that they were not responsible. I can assure you that this curb was intact before the moving truck damaged it.
When you live in a condo, there is several bylaws and one of them found us responsible because we hired this company and so we had to pay out of our pocket to fix that little wall. It’s totally outrageous.
We also had several broken items: dishes, night stand, bed frame etc. It’s impossible to talk by phone with Dennis Gregoire after he has his money. He replies only by emails. Regarding our broken stuff, he replied by giving a name and an email address of an insurance company and told me to deal with this person. He totally refused to hear anything about it.
Be aware. Before they unload the truck, you will have to pay in full. If you don’t pay, they won’t unload. That way if something is broken you cannot withhold any money. And before you pay, be sure to read the second page attached to the bill of lading as there is many exclusions as to what they are responsible for and basically this second page says that they are not responsible for anything and you are responsible for everything. When you do the initial contract you are not aware of if. It’s only at the unloading stage and again if you don’t sign it they don’t unload your belongings.
Dennis Gregoire is not an honest person. He lied about “one truck one move” as my husband witnessed that the trailer full of stuff for another family that was going to be delivered in Calgary. He lied and found son many stupid excuses about the incident with the moving truck. If I could give this company a -1 I would.

Points West Moving Review.

We would like to thank Dennis and the team for an efficient move. The team arrived on time and immediately our household items were safely wrapped and packed. They had the entire house emptied in excellent time. In Richmond, the truck arrived on time and had to do some difficult maneuvering to drop off items at a storage locker. They then proceeded to efficiently and easily bring in all boxes and furniture to the apartment and have everything set up before leaving. My thanks to an efficient team. They stayed to their quote, which was easily 2-4 thousand less than the next offer. I would definitely recommend this family business to anyone who is making a move. Our appreciation for making this move as stress free as a move could possibly be. Sincerely, Joan Tolman.

Disgusted.

Words fail me.In my opinion they are movers from hell. They had us booked for a month later than on the contract. After sending a fairly detailed E mail explaining the problems we encountered they conveniently found answers to our complaints. The final straw was that they were good enough not to charge us for coming back the next day to pick up items that they forgot in three locations in our condo.

Lost Items.

These movers did everything right but they lost a couple of boxes with a variety of belongings including electronics. It took me a good month of waiting for phone calls to be returned before I was able to talk to a warm body and to be referred to their insurance claim adjuster. I even got in touch with the other party whose belongings were also on the truck but to no avail. She didn't have the boxes. So the items vanished and with a $5000 deductible and because I packed and unpacked my own items Points West is conveniently resolved of any responsibility. I figure I am out at least $600-$700 to replace the lost items. Interestingly, this was the difference in price between Points West and AMJ Campbell who I had used before with no issues at all.

Sometimes you get what you pay for!! I would recommend to anyone else that you count and put numbers on every box to make sure you have all of them before your movers leave.

Points West Moving.

This was my fifth move with a moving company.

Right from my phone call to Points West Moving for a moving quote, I had a good feeling about this company.

The estimator came to my residence and gave me a FIRM PRICED quote for my move from Kelowna to Vancouver Island. They also moved my car on the same moving trailer as my household items. I had a full pack also.

The crew was on time at the origin and destination.

One thing that gave me peace of mind for Points West Moving is that they are bonded and do criminal checks on all employees.

They used floor runners on my carpeted and hardwood floors and used door protectors on the entrance doors.

They came in with a crew of 8 people and packed and loaded my home in one day. I had a 5 bedroom home and couldn't believe that they had packed and loaded and were completed by 3:30 in the afternoon.

The moving and packing crews were friendly and extremely professional.

I would recommend Points West Moving to anyone who is making a move in the future.

Moving with Points West; Peachland to Langley

Though reasonably priced and on time for packing, was very disappointed in the crew sent to pack our belongings. Crew damaged the house when moving things out and did not carefully wrap antique furniture for transport and thus damaged in the move. Though our goods were insured – no mention of a $5,000 deductible – till after we tried to claim for insurance repairs!

Won’t be using Points West again…

Move from North Shuswap to Calgary

We are extremely disappointed with Points West Moving, in particular Dennis Gregoire who came out to give us a quote and Simon who drove the truck. Simon showed up late with only2 other men to help with a truck that he said was too small (Dennis underestimated the size needed) and did not finish loading until 10:30 pm. A custom stair nosing was broken off which Dennis said to have repaired and he would pay for and later refusedto ($362.00). Dennis told us they were fully insured for all damage. We also had 3 end tables with legs broken off, a plant stand with legs broken off, damage to our stationary bike, glass on a picture broken, puzzle board damaged and various other items scratched and damaged. When Simon took final payment he took pictures of all the damages and said he would pass them on to be looked after. A week later when I had heard nothing I began to make phone calls to find out what would be done only to find out NOTHING would be repaired or reimbursed for. We feel that we were lied to until final payment was made.

Terrible moving company

We have moved through transfers approximately 17 times. We have never dealt with such an unprofessional moving company. We used this company out of desperation. All the well known and companies were not available for our dates. The rate was cheap and they say you get what you pay for. Not the case in this situation. We didn`t even get what we paid for. The owner/manager Dennis appraised the move and gave us a quote. I had read the reviews and was nervous about even using the company but Dennis and his helper Jeff assured me it would be a good and seamless experience.

Trailer supplied was 48 feet not 53 feet as required for a 24,000 lbs move.

Left approximately $2,000 worth of items behind. No room in trailer.

2 recently purchased portable A/C units. $385. Per unit. 2 dog kennels. Have had to purchase one at our new location. $120.00. Garage storage shelving. $500. Value. Rolls of clear and black plastic. $250 roll of ground cover.

Left 3 propane tanks and 3 gas containers. We were bringing them in our rented trailer but mover required 80% that room for items they couldn`t fit in moving trailer.

Boxes packed too heavy. Need hand cart to move them around. Filled garment boxes with heavy shop tools instead of 2 cube boxes.

50% of the boxes were not marked to show contents. Brought this to the attention of the packer and he told me why is that a problem. You have to open them all when you unpack anyway.

Legs missing for patio furniture table. Taken apart by movers at top of our driveway. Either left in packing blankets or left on street where the table was taken apart. Patio furniture is now incomplete.

Lost special pin that holds basketball stand together.

Hole punctured through from back of framed painted. This was packed by the company owner.

2 remotes missing for master bedroom TV system. Remote for sound bar with cables and wiring. I disassembled unit and put all components together so this wouldn`t happen. Have sound bar remote but main T.V. and cable box remotes missing. Could be in garage unmarked box that we haven`t unpacked yet.

Broke cast iron leg off garden bench.

Called and left a message the day our belongings were being delivered. No one called back. Jeff`s voice on recording. Made a list of issues to be given to Dennis. Never heard back.

Have called Simon (driver) at least 5 times and left messages. Wanting to know if they found the missing pieces for our patio furniture when the folded the moving blankets. No call back.

Brought deck umbrella`s but left bases and pole extensions.

Left their personal garbage all over the place. Food containers and partially consumed drinks.

Wonderful to have 8 or more people packing but no way we could make sure they were packing or leaving items upon our request. Tell one person but he didn`t convey to other workers.

They had to stop before delivering our contents to fix 3 flat tires on their trailer.

I have since sent an email to Dennis listing all the issues we had and asked him to call me. He emailed response:

Please refer to item 11 on the reverse of your bill of lading. All claims must be made within 7 days after delivery.

I made a claim before the packers had even left the property the day they made the delivery.

There is no recourse with a company like this. I can only hope that people do see this review and have an alternate mover to hire.

Moved from Blind Bay to Coaldale

This was our worst move ever. Dennis seemed trustworthy & reliable but proved he was not. We were quoted $9,000.00 but the bill was $1,000.00 more when the semi arrived at our new home. Jeff reduced this amount by $500.00 so we were only cheated out of $500.00! The driver told us this happens all the time. They were 2 days late as Dennis forgot to book the delivery. Our goods were stored in the trailer for 6 weeks. The trailer leaked so there was a lot of water damage, along with a dead mouse & mould. We made a reasonable claim for all the damaged furniture, 14 days after the move but were denied as apparently you only have 7 days to do this. It was impossible for us to meet this time line because the boxes were all wet & we had to clean most items as they were unpacked. We were also never told that there was a $5,000.00 deductible. We are extremely disappointed int he whole process.

Excellent experience

I have moved many times in my life time and with many different companies. I had a quote from Points West Moving for my move from Kelowna to Edmonton. I checked out reviews for Points West Moving and contacted them regarding some bad reviews. Two of the reviews I mentioned were not even customers of Points West Moving. I was satisfied after talking to Dennis and used them as my mover. Of all my experiences moving, Points West was by far my best move. They were courteous and professional. The truck and crew arrived on time on loading and delivery days. My furniture was padded and shrink wrapped and I did not have one problem with any kind of breakage or damage.

I would recommend Points West Moving to anyone who is planning their upcoming move.
